ShopTools is a personal project. This page explains, in plain language, what data the app handles and what you can do about it. If anything here is unclear, email contact@happybein.com — that's also the fastest way to reach me directly.
Everything you enter — your Groceries list, Others list, saved Stores (including any loyalty card numbers), Links and Budget — is stored locally in your browser's storage, on your own phone or computer, and none of it leaves your device unless you turn on Sync (below).
The "Scan barcode or QR from a photo" button in a store's form reads the picture you choose on your own device. The photo is not uploaded or saved; only the number found in it ends up in the form, like anything you type.
ShopTools asks, the first time you open it, whether you agree to anonymous usage statistics. Nothing is sent to Google, and no analytics cookies are set, unless you tap Accept; Decline works just as well and the app is identical. Your choice is remembered for 180 days (in a cookie named yv_consent, shared across the yeahvibe.com apps, plus a copy in local storage) and you can change it any time in Settings → Cookie settings. If you accept, ShopTools uses Google Analytics to count how the app is used so I can see which parts are worth improving. It records page views and
general interactions, your approximate location (country and region,
worked out from your network connection, with IP anonymization turned
on), basic device and browser details, and a random identifier stored on
your device. It does not receive your name, email address, or
anything you type into ShopTools: your lists, stores, card numbers,
links and budget are never sent to it. Google processes this data on my

Separately, ShopTools counts visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics (Cloudflare also hosts the app). It uses no cookies, stores nothing on your device and does not identify or follow you: it records the page, the referring site, the country and the type of device and browser, as totals. Because of that it needs no consent and runs whether or not you accept the usage statistics above.
Settings → "Sync across devices" is off by default and requires you to actively choose to sign in. If you do, ShopTools accesses your Google account email address and account ID via Google Sign-In — nothing else. ShopTools never sees or stores your Google password, contacts, calendar, files, or any other Google data.
Your email address and account ID are used solely to identify your account and to let a copy of your Inventory lists, Quick List, saved Stores, Links, and Budget follow you to your other devices signed in with the same Google account. That's the only purpose. ShopTools does not use this data for advertising, to build a marketing profile, to sell to data brokers, or to train any AI or machine-learning model.
Your data is never sold. It's shared only with the providers needed to run the app: Google (for Sync sign-in, and for the anonymous usage statistics above) and Back4App, a database host currently based in the United States that stores the synced copy under its own Data Processing Addendum and does not use it for its own purposes.
Synced data travels over encrypted (HTTPS) connections and is stored in a database access-controlled to your own signed-in account only.
Local data stays on your device until you clear your browser storage or remove the app. Synced data is kept only as long as Sync stays on, and remains in the cloud database until you tap "Delete my synced backup" in Settings — which removes it immediately — or until you request account deletion as described on the account deletion page.
ShopTools isn't directed at children and isn't intended for anyone under 16.
